Brief Biography:

Nick DeRosa received his BA in Classical Languages from the University of Puget Sound in 2010, with a thesis entitled "Mania and Baccheia in Plato’s Symposium". In his senior year, Nick was also awarded prize in Greek and Latin translation. His thesis comprised a close intertextual reading of a phrase in the Alcibiades scene of the Symposium, expanding into the implications of this reading on our understanding of Eros, or philosophy, and finally on the problems of the written text as philosophy. While Nick is interested in much philosophic literature, from Empedocles to Proclus, his interests also range broadly in Greek literature, from Archaic poetry and Greek lyric, all the way to the the ancient novel and literature of late antiquity. However, he desires to further his research in Plato into the still rather broad field of the Platonic tradition.
