Brief Biography:

Laurie Jensen earned her B.A. in Archaeology and Classical Civilization from Boston University in 2010. She participated in the Kilteasheen Archaeological Project in Roscommon Co., Ireland in the summer of 2008, excavating a church and cemetery complex. Her primary areas of interest include fifth-century Greek history, specifically the Peloponnesian War, perceptions of ethnicity and nationalism within the Greek world, and the development of democracy and empire in Athens. She also dabbles in the political events of Late Republican Rome and mystery cults in the Greco-Roman world. Her undergraduate thesis was entitled “The Sicilian Identity Crisis: Ethnic Feeling as a Thucydidean Motivator,” and explored the effects of Sicilian ethnic ties to mainland Greece during the Sicilian expedition (415-413) and how such paradigms might be applied to modern conflicts.
