Brief Biography:

Jason Nethercut holds a B.A. (summa cum laude in Classics and Italian, with minors in German and French) from the University of Texas at Austin (2006) and an M.Phll in Classics from the University of Cambridge (2007). His main interest is in the intersections among poetry, philosophy, and material culture. He is currently finishing up his dissertation, entitled "Provisional Poetics in Lucretius' De Rerum Natura", which provides a new analysis of the relationship between poetics and physics in Lucretius' poem. In addition to his current research, Jason is  particularly interested in Greek and Latin ekphrasis and its relationship with art and sculpture, as well as the reception of classical antiquity in opera.
