Education:

Adrian Packel graduated from Swarthmore College in 2004 with a major in ancient Greek and a minor in computer science.

Research and Teaching Interests:

His interests range from Homer and Greek tragedy to the evolution of the Latin language into its Romance descendants and the reception of classical works by later authors, particularly Dante and the Italian Renaissance poets and, of course, the numerous opera librettists who have drawn from classical texts and figures.

Brief Biography:

After spending several years in Boston working as a software developer by day and an opera singer by night--including appearing in such roles as Seneca (Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea) and Cadmus/Somnus (John Eccles's Semele)--he decided to pursue further study in classics.
