TERENTIANUS MAURUS

A Latin grammarian, born in Mauritania. At the close of the 3rd century B.C. he wrote a didactic poem on prosody and metre, composed in the most varied forms of verse (De Litteris, Syllabis, Metris). The estimation in which he was held by later grammarians is proved by their frequent quotations from him.
