Benjamin Turnbull

Ben graduated from Skidmore College in 2015 with a B.A. in Classical Studies and Studio Art with Honors in both majors. He is a member of Eta Sigma Phi, a national Classics honor society.  Ben is especially fascinated by the pervasive nature of Homeric epic as it manifests itself in other genres, particularly in Herodotus’ prose.  In the summer of 2015 following his graduation, Ben combined his visual and linguistic skills by collaborating with professor Michael Arnush, the head of Skidmore’s Classics department, in a close analysis of photographs of a 3rd Century BCE Greek inscription, the Troezenian “Decree of Themistocles” using Adobe Photoshop.  Ben is also a poet and visual artist who composites elements of Greco-Roman epic and lyric poetry with his own observations and experiences.
