Elizabeth Palazzolo entered the Penn PhD program in 2011 after completing an MA and BA with departmental honors in Classics at Yale. Elizabeth’s research interests include the Roman memory and commemoration of the past, Roman identity and cultural change, and the interaction of Romans with non-Roman peoples of Italy. She is currently writing a dissertation examining the Roman memory of the city’s early expansion into central Italy and Rome’s conquest of her Latin neighbors. She is also interested in Greek and Roman historiography and Roman material culture, and she has participated in excavations at Cosa and at Gabii.
