Department of Classical Studies
Katie Becker graduated from Hillsdale College in 2008 with a B.A. in Classical Studies, concentrating in Latin. She was a part of the national classics honorary, Eta Sigma Phi, where she took first place in the Maurine Dallas Watkins Sight Translation Contest for Koine Greek her senior year. She taught Latin at the junior high level for four years, before spending a year in Rome studying Italian at the Società Dante Alighieri. After her post-bac at Penn, she hopes to complete a masters degree before continuing a pedagogical career at the secondary level. She enjoys the literature of both classical and modern Romance languages, and is broadly interested in how historic languages and literature can inform our understanding of language and culture today.
