Sarah Brucia Breitenfeld

Sarah Brucia Breitenfeld graduated from Skidmore College in 2015, where she earned her B.A. in Classics with honors and was awarded the Helga B. Doblin Prize for her work in Latin and Greek. While at Skidmore, she studied abroad in Bath at Advanced Studies in England, including a Greek tutorial at Trinity College, Oxford, before attending the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome. Her senior thesis examined how the representation of female figures on the Parthenon—from virgins and matrons to Amazons and adulteresses—promoted the ideals of Pericles’ 451/0 BCE Citizenship Law.

She is fascinated by the complex role of women throughout antiquity, particularly concerning issues of gendered violence and sexual assault in foundational texts.
