Michael Putnam, "Virgil, Ovid and the Exile of Myrrha"

I would like to examine the complementarity of exile and metamorphosis in Metamorphoses 10 with particular reference to the story of Myrrha. As part of my discussion I will propose reasons for Ovid's allusions, at the end of the episode, to books 10 and 12 of the Aeneid. This will lead to some concluding suggestions on exile as a unifying notion in Virgil's poetry and of its bearing on Ovid.
