How could ancient Rome possibly help us, with its mad emperors, tight hierarchies and snail-pace communications?  Is it a valid exercise to look for lessons in antiquity, and, if so, what kinds of lessons are worth pursuing?  Emma Dench reflects on a year-long experiment co-teaching an MBA elective course at Harvard Business School with Frances Frei (UPS Professor of Technology and Operations Management) in 2015-16, and on how Rome helps her in her current “day job” as Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
