We are proud to share the new that Jordan Carrick (Greek and Latin Languages and Literatures program) has received the Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching by Graduate Students. Jordy’s courses taught at Penn include the introductory Latin sequence (LATN 0100, LATN 0200), The Scandalous Arts in Modern and Ancient Society (CLST 1701), Greek and Roman Mythology (CLST 1500), and a seminar she designed for Penn’s Communication Within the Curriculum (CWiC) program entitled “Ancient Women’s Voices from Homer to Hadestown” (CLST 1208), offered twice in fall 2024 and spring 2025. The comments do not lie: Jordy’s students report that her couses were “extremely refreshing” and she herself was “amazing,” “passionate and incredibly knowledgeable,” and she “totally rocked.” When serving as a TA, Jordy “truly created a great classroom discussion and engagement from everyone in our class.” Her version of Scandalous Arts (summer 2024) “allow[ed] those both well versed in the classics and beginners to understand the common controversies within Greek and Athenian culture.” Congratulations, Jordy, on this well-deserved recognition!
