23RD ANNUAL CHRISTOPHER ROBERTS LECTURES 

Each fall the Department of Classical Studies at Dickinson College invites noted scholars to present a lecture containing at least one significant, original finding or thesis not previously presented in public, either in print or orally. This lecture is delivered on Saturday afternoon, to allow interested faculty, students and people from the area to attend. The topic is one of potential interest to teachers of classical studies at the college level. A concert follows. 

A second lecture -- directed to a wider audience -- is delivered on the previous Friday afternoon. All three events are free and open to the public.

Friday March 4th, 2022
4:30 P.M. Dickinson College - Great Room

Professor Emily Wilson will read Book 6 of her in-progress verse translation of the Iliad, with discussion of the poem.

Saturday March 5th, 2022
2:00 P.M. Dickinson College - Recital Hall

Professor Emily Wilson will discuss her goals and process in translating the Iliad, after the Odyssey.

Post-Lecture Concert: “Morning Heroes”: Scenes from Book VI of the Iliad by Arthur Bliss. Performed by Dickinson Faculty and the Dickinson College Choir.
