Sophie Cushman

Sophie graduated summa cum laude from Tulane University with a double major in Classical Studies and Art History. She received honors in Classical Studies, was named the Senior Honors Scholar in Classical Studies, and was awarded the Judah Touro Medal in Classical Studies.  She spent Fall 2013 studying abroad at the Centro in Rome.

She is interested in Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age Aegean archaeology, particularly Cretan archaeology.  Her senior thesis focused on the development and distinction between private and public space in Crete from 1200-700 BCE.  Additionally, she is interested in contemporary issues of cultural heritage, antiquities looting, and repatriation in Greece, Italy, and beyond (Mexico, China).
