Public Trust for Mis(sed) translations
A symposium about the problems and processes of translation

The first annual symposium of the Francophone, Italian & Germanic Studies Department at the University of Pennsylvania, the event will probe the breaches between texts and their translation(s) and ask what is left when a text is mistranslated, mishandled, or misused in another language. The event will feature presentations aligned with the department’s linguistic areas, including Nathan Dize on Francophone studies, Lawrence Venuti on Italian studies, and author and translator Damion Searls on German studies. A closing reception will follow.
