In March of 2011, the Chicago based NPR radio show, This American Life, put together a wonderful story about an Iran-American woman, raised in Minnesota, in an Iranian immigrant family. She had to somehow figure out how to translate the Iranian social concept of overwhelming hospitality, called Tarof, in a way her American friends could understand. Have a listen, it runs about 8 minutes, and is incredibily interesting for us.
