Alice Hu


Alice Hu received her BA in History and Classics from Stanford University in 2010. She entered the PhD program at Penn in 2011. 

Research Interests: 

Alice's research interests include Latin epic, fifth-century Athenian tragedy, women and gender, intertextuality, and the interactions between literature and culture in Augustan and Flavian Rome. Alice is currently working on a dissertation that explores the reception of Greek tragic models in Roman Augustan and imperial epic, focusing primarily the use of tragic models by Vergil, Ovid, and Statius to reflect on issues of succession, paternity, and affiliation, both dynastic and literary. 


Alice was a Graduate Fellow for Teaching Excellence at UPenn's Center for Teaching and Learning in 2014-5.  She is away for the 2015-2016 academic year, serving as the Resident Instructor at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies (the Centro).
