“Only Dissertators” Classical Studies Colloquium

We seize upon the open first colloquium slot of the year to call an “only dissertators” colloquium. Recognizing that dissertation work is often solitary and yet is also core to our intellectual community, the graduate chairs in the three groups host this event to bring all our dissertators and dissertations into the light, and to make an auspicious beginning to our academic year.

The goal of this informal meeting is fourfold:

  1. To learn about everyone’s dissertations. (We’ll ask everyone for a brief, one-sentence description during the session.)
  2. To share ideas (with one another, and with the grad chairs) about your process -- prospectus, research, writing, completion.
  3. To share opportunities, deadlines, and other information relevant to dissertators.
  4. To organize this year’s dissertation writing groups and hear comments from those already experienced with these groups.
