Emily Wilson in conversation with Rhodri Lewis about Shakespeare, April 23rd at the Free Public Library – a good way to celebrate this sacred day. Note that Prof Lewis’ book has substantial discussions of Aristotle on tragedy and of Shakespeare’s uses of the classical tradition, humanism, personae, Romanitas, honestas, Stoicism, rhetoric, and competing Virgilian and Ovidian models – as well as a profound argument about human delusion – so it may be of interest to classicists as well as Shakespeareans.
